The general rule of thumb is that black culture is often considered more masculine than white culture, and this is usually attributed to the color of the skin. With that being said, there is still a great deal of debate and disagreement on the topic of gender.
This is probably due to the fact that black women are often stereotyped as subservient, and that has a lot to do with their general attitude towards men. While it is true that as black women grow older, they tend to become more independent and more assertive, the stereotype of black men as being violent and misogynistic tends to be a lot stronger.
